In recent years there has been an influx of foreigners coming into townships taking over spaza shops leading to xenophobia and violent attacks in various townships. SASTA (South African Spaza & Tuckshop Association), TBDSA (Township Business Development of South Africa) and Sustainability Livelihoods who have done extensive research in the industry talk about the problems and the solutions.
