A groundbreaking new report has revealed that more than half (55%) of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex (LGBTI) South Africans fear they will experience discrimination due to their sexual orientation or gender identity. Lerato Phalakatshela, Hate Crime Manager of OUT, unpacks all the frightening facts in the report – which a total of 2,130 South Africans participated in – and is labelled as the first ever national research report on LGBTI discrimination and hate crimes in South Africa. Saul Smith of Attorneys Dewey Hertzberg Levy joins the discussion.
