He explains his view of colonialism as economically extractive as opposed to the Afrikaner nationalism which followed it. Wessel further argues that nationalism is a key requirement for infrastructure to be built and expands on why Apartheid and colonialism were not the same thing. Jonathan probes deeper into the dangers of nationalism at a state level and Roman queries why other post-colonial African countries’ form of nationalism did not have as much development as South Africa.
