The guest on this instalment of the Renegade Report is Afriforum Deputy CEO, Ernst Roets. Ernst explains the role of civil rights organisations within a democracy, and the importance of protecting minorities in our society. Emphasis is placed on self reliance over state dependence within a corrupt environment. Jonathan questions the role and potential failings of the Constitution in protecting rights, and Roman laments the ongoing notion of race as a real problem – despite evidence otherwise. Ernst gives his view of race merchants and their trade, speaks about Karl Popper’s paradox of democracy in how it relates to the South African context, and shares Afriforum’s position on the issue of farm murders. There’s also discussion about the current political and economic situation in the country and whether the future may lead to a more federalist approach to governance.
